My buddy has one, and yes, they are. Significantly lighter! It’s almost like cheating! It’s more durable and buoyant, it takes waves better, turns better, basically does everything better. Plus, it’s way better for the environment when it does come time to retire the board. It just makes sense to get a hemp board!

With everyone switching to sustainable materials, surfers are also now turning to environmentally friendly products. But there are several other reasons for the growing popularity of hemp surfboards. First of all, they are incredibly durable and long-lasting. Then, unlike the traditional boards, these are quite lightweight and easy to handle without compromising strength. And best of all, the prices are still around the same range as the regular products.

Yes! Compared to most other surfboard composites, hemp surfboards are incredibly lightweight. Add to this the fact they wick away excess moisture with ease, they’re long-lasting and eco-friendly; and you can start to see why they’re fast becoming the new surfboard material of choice!

Surfboards made from hemp fibers are very light-weight and highly durable. These boards are more flexible than traditional boards, making handling on the water a breeze. You have the added benefit of a board made from strong and sustainable materials. Because hemp is more durable than traditional materials, you do not have to worry about as much wear and tear on your board.

Hemp surfboards are known to be lightweight. However, that does not mean they aren’t durable. Hemp has one of the highest weight to strength ratios of any natural materials. The popularity of hemp surfboards continues to rise as more people decide to use them for their durability and eco friendly properties.

Bringing about the future hemp revolutionary road is like a massive turning out point in the producers’ minds! We can observe it in the surfing industry as good as it gets. Sustainability is now the future of surfing. Aside from obviously being an eco-friendly, surfboards made from hemp is also lighter and stronger compared to the fiberglass surfboards that are regularly used. Being lightweight means, it can be easily carried and transported. Hemp surfboards also give a lot of benefits such as very sturdy and can withstand heavy waves, completely biodegradable, no harmful by-products, and UV resistant.

Because hemp is buoyant yet durable, it makes for a great surfboard.

A native Hawaiian popularized the idea when he created his own surfboards made of hemp.

It’s probably similar to how you construct “hemp wood.”

He deserves a medal for his ingenuity. 🙂

Yes! Very light, as stated above by fellow commentators. Popularity of these products is gaining fast due to the availability of increasing and hemp prices falling in the past few years.

Yes! Ultra light, in fact. With a super incredible flex pattern, twice as flexible as carbon for a much less chattery and more responsive board feel. You can get more air. The board lasts longer. Resists dings better. And 1000 times less toxic than the old models!
