Yes, there are lots of hemp musical instruments, and even more in the conception phase. From hemp guitars to hemp harps, there are lots of them out there!

Hemp has been used in making guitars, ukuleles, reeds, and accessories for instruments. Like other products, hemp is used to durability and sustainability. Hemp made instruments have also been known to have improved sound quality. Hemp is used in place of carbon fibers, wood boards, or plastic pieces in the instrument. The bonus is that you are making a more durable instrument with replacing these components with hemp.

Hemp is used in everything now. So, yes, you can find hemp musical instruments as well. Hemp is not a plant that you can get timber from. But manufacturers use the hemp fiber and make a composite material, which is pretty sturdy and long-lasting. I’ve heard of hemp music instruments like guitars that are sold by a few specialized boutique stores. But I don’t think it’s commercially done yet on a large scale. But you can expect to see more music instrument manufacturers experimenting with hemp materials in the future.

Yes, there are several musical instruments made from hemp. The most commonly found is guitars, known for their durability as hemp is powerful and moisture resistant. You will also find saxophone reeds are available and they are more durable than the traditional cane reeds. There is also an option to purchase hemp keyboard mallets for your marimba or vibraphone.

As you probably will read on ever post here, guitars are now being made out of hemp. This would make the guitar more durable, but I don’t know how it would make the guitar sound over time. Reeves is being made out of hemp (which makes sense; they will last longer than standard reeves). I also know other niche instruments like ukuleles, tambourines, and maracas currently are being made out of hemp as well.

100% yes! The innovative era for music has come true, and for travelers or other enthusiasm wishes, there is a plant-based resin to create supremely rugged travel-size guitar! Hemp is also exclusively brought out the eco-friendly accessories, and hemp reeds create a natural sound in saxophones too.

Hemp has a variety of uses and benefits. Several companies successfully created guitars out of hemp. By using hemp, the guitar is more durable and has some unique qualities that cannot be found in typical wooden guitars. Creating an instrument out of hemp is indeed a sustainable choice. And it can also minimize the role of instruments in deforestation in our world.

Yet another use case for hemp!
While it is a niche product, you can undoubtedly buy hemp guitars and even hemp-wrapped cable cords for your guitar.
Even a casing for your stereo units can be made from hemp. Most of them are made from particle wood anyways so that a hemp alternative would be vastly more durable.

Yeah! I know there’s a handful of brands exploring “Ganga guitars,” hahaha. From what I’ve seen, these are new(er) companies primarily focusing on these types of sustainable instruments. Personally, as a musician, I’d like to see Martin or Taylor branch out into that, just from their track record for having skilled luthiers and quality instruments. I’d be interested to see how the tone of a hemp guitar mellows over time. Usually, I’m all about switching to hemp for anything we need that it can create, but I know that the composition of a guitar greatly affects the sound, so I’m not 100% on how I feel about this lol.

Yes, there are many hemp musical instruments. As previously stated, you can make guitars and ukuleles out of hemp. But you can also make saxophones (or, at least, parts of saxophones) out of hemp. Hemp reeds create a darker, earthy sound that saxophone players like. Marimba and vibraphone players, too, can opt for keyboard mallets made of out hemp. I believe as hemp becomes more well-known, we will see more musical instruments made out of this exotic plant.

Yes! In the past few years, there has been an increase in companies designing instruments to be made out of hemp, primarily guitars. You will most likely need to obtain it online since it is a newer concept, and I don’t think national brands like Guitar Center would be willing to risk the wholesale purchase of them.

Yes! Actual real guitars and ukuleles (if you consider them a musical instrument ) are made out of industrial hemp! The guitars and ukes are more durable and very playable. In Canada, you can buy a handcrafted electric hemp guitar for about $1300. Classic 50s and 60s style inspiration, but except for marijuana leaves printed on the headstock, they look pretty ordinary.
