Hemp yoga mats are an excellent non-toxic, and eco-friendly option. They will also work out to be quite economical because of their high durability. So, if you’ve decided to buy one, you might want to pick a mat that has a combination of hemp and rubber. This is because 100% hemp is not going to be comfortable, as you can imagine.
And they usually have an excellent non-slip grip. But make sure that you check it yourself before buying. Also, check on the thickness for extra comfort.

This is another answer that boils down to personal choice. Most people tend to lead with their favorite color, then decide from there based on texture, thickness, and price. I personally go for the thicker choice, as it doesn’t just last for longer, but it’s cozier too.

Like a rubber or foam yoga mat, you need to think of what you need from a hemp yoga mat. Are you doing hot yoga and need a mat with more of a grip? Are you prone to joint soreness, and need a thicker foundation? Or, do you want a throw and go mat that is lightweight and durable? All of these needs can be solved with a hemp yoga mat. With hemp mats, you are not getting the weird smell like rubber mats. Nor the need to replace every 6months because you practice twice a day, and your rug is in tatters. Hemp mats let you live your yogi life with being good for the environment and reassurance in a quality product that will last years.

Your selection of the ideal hemp yoga mat really depends on what works best for you. The thickness and durability are all dependants upon how much use your yoga mat will be getting. Keep in mind that 100% pure hemp yoga mat wouldn’t be very comfortable, so ensure you find one with the right blend for you.

It’s all a matter of preference. There are limitless options out there on the internet of hemp yoga mats.
If you like thin, there’s flat, if you want thick, there thick. If you like flexibility, there’s flexible, and if you like sturdy, well, they have that too. Name a color – yup, it’s there. Anything and everything!

Hemp yoga mats will last longer than the foamy mainstream ones, so you should consider that too when looking to make your selection!

      Questions to ask yourself:

How “soft” are you looking for in a yoga mat?
How long do you want it to last?
If you are looking for something, that’s an easy way to clean?
How thick do you need it?
      How big do you need?

If you’re a beginner, it’s recommended that you purchase a thicker mat. You don’t want to hurt or struggle if you’re new to yoga.

Also, it’s important to note that hemp yoga mats are usually artisan. You probably wouldn’t want a templated manufacturer’s mat anyways.

Another drawback to hemp mats is that they aren’t sticky so that they will slip on smooth flooring. This can be dangerous if you’re new, so it is recommended to have some carpeting if you’re going to do yoga on a hemp mat.

There are various measurements for buying suitable hem yoga mats; for example, someone who tries to do yoga on mountain cliffs, beside the sea or in the jungle, would prefer a better quality mat for outdoor burning out yoga! The one that is more persistent due to climate conditions or the other person wants an ordinary soft rug for indoor (bare floor, even grass). Think about your purpose for the mat first, then choose the best appropriate one.

There’s really no standard way to choose as it is all up to personal preference. As far as the feeling is concerned, you won’t notice a huge difference between a hemp mat and a traditional mat. The biggest draw for me is that hemp possesses naturally antimicrobial properties and leaves a much smaller, or even non-existent, environmental footprint.

The same way you would choose a regular yoga mat, based on your preferences. While they can be a bit more tough, due to fibers thickness, they are much more durable and will last years longer than a standard yoga mat.

Like any yoga mat, you should check if the thickness and style suit you.

I prefer a thick matt that will be suitable for a hot yoga session and won’t allow me to slide around.

A hemp yoga mat isn’t much of a difference to a standard carpet, and just the hemp fibers are used in the construction and make it antibacterial another benefit is that it is made from renewable resources – a big plus in my book.

Choose a mat that suits you and your style simple.

Thickness – decide if you want a thick or thin mat. Thin is for postures, and dense is more for core work. Medium thickness is about 1/8 inch thick and works for most people. A 100% hemp yoga surface mat will have two sides, likely one is hemp knit, and the other is a hemp woven fabric.
