It’s estimated that a pound of hemp seed contains roughly 27,000 seeds. That’s at 39 cents per pound in most markets. That’s a lot of seeds.

There’s typically anywhere between 25,000 and 27,000 seeds in a pound of seed. Some strains produce smaller seeds, so that’s part of the reason you might notice a variation. If you’re wondering about seeds per pound of biomass, it would depend on the strain. Seed yield from the plant itself relies on a variety of factors, including whether or not the plants were hand-pollinated (studies have shown this results in lower seed yields).

Is there a difference in weight if it is shelled or hulled hemp seeds. Shelled hemp seeds are raw seeds correct?

So my above reply is referring to the seed as it comes out of the plant… what you’d think of when you feel seed–what you can stick in soil and grow from lol.

The shelled hemp seeds, or hearts, would have a higher amount per pound, as you’re only getting the little meaty bits from inside the hull. Honestly, I’m not even sure how many pieces of hemp heart you’d get in a pound. With processing, sometimes you get the heart in half, so it’s tough to be sure. But, from the above, we know there’s at least 25-27,000 d:

As others have mentioned above, the number of Hemp Seeds in a pound is dependant on if you are referring to Hulled Hemp Seeds or Whole Hemp Seeds. On average, there are about 25k to 27k of Whole Hemp Seeds in a pound.

With Hulled Hemp Seed, the crunchy outer shell removed, so a lot more Hulled Hemp Seed will be required to make up a pound when compared to Whole Hemp Seed. The outer shell is an excellent source of minerals, so it would be preferred that Whole Hemp Seeds are used to get the most nutritional value.

Is that Hulled Hemp Seeds or whole seeds, there is a difference, and weight will play a role.
Hulled Hemp Seeds Vs. Whole Hemp Seeds
Hulled is without the other shell as a whole seed is with the shell so that the weight will be different.

If your point is to investigate to corp’s yield and production, here’s some intel on the plant:
It is clarified in various researches that the number of seeds per pound is between 25000 and 27000, averagely 26000, but the yield relies upon the kind of seed and climate. It varies from 0.6 to 2.4 tons per Hectar. Hemp bushel weight is 44 lbs, and grain yield has been changing from 250 to 2200 kg/ha equals 5-45 bushels per acre.

Reading up on this is could be anywhere between 25,000 to 27,000 hemp seeds!

Due to the size difference, you get different numbers, of course.

You can usually find them in grocery stores like Trader Joe’s. If you search on Amazon, you can find them there too. I hope that helps!
