Yes, biodegradable hemp plastic is a bit pricey, compared to other plastics. It takes more time to make. But it has a lot of upside to it.

I think it’s more expensive now but plastic has been made at scale for a long time so it will be a little bit of time before plastic alternatives can scale up and reduce prices.

For the average person, I’m sure it would be pretty pricy– just like the start up costs associated with fabricating anything would be. However, I don’t think it would cost much more, if any extra at all, for factories already producing plastics to convert to bioplastic. Plus, the environmental benefit would be HUGE!

When it comes to the plastic, then there are several plastics readily available. These plastics are quite dangerous for our environment. Not just that, they are quite expensive. However, when we talk about hemp plastic, then the story is entirely different. The hemp plastic contains less dangerous and cheap fiberglass counterparts. If you calculate the amount of these fiberglass counterparts, then it would be around 40-75 cents. These composites can easily be replaced by the fibers of glass and carbon that are harmful to health. Also, these fibers have a significant impact on our environment. In case we calculate the amount of these composites, then it would range from 50 cents to 5 dollars. This is a significant amount if you consider it. So, when we compare the amount, then we come to know that the hemp plastic is reasonable in price and suitable for use.

For now, it may be a little expensive, but if it has an environmental impact positively, then well worth it in the long run.
