There are claims that oxygen produced by an acre of hemp is equal to 25 acres of forest. In a year, one hectare of hemp can absorb 44 tons of carbon dioxide. This means that hemp could produce much oxygen because of its high carbon absorption capacity. However, no really specific study measured the oxygen produced by a hectare of trees compared with hemp.

One acre of hemp actually produces more oxygen than a comparable acre of trees, due to hemp’s ability to absorb carbon and CO2. Though there is no definitive answer to exactly how much oxygen can be produced by hemp plants, we do know that hemp is highly effective at producing oxygen… yes, even more so than trees!
