Be sure to get the freshest and tallest stalk.
      • Separate hemp fibers and cut until you have a bundle.
      • Fold strands into half and place dowel rod through the loop.
      • Hold half of the fibers in left and in right then twist each clockwise until cord begins to loop,
      (pull hard while twisting).
      • Twist together in a counterclockwise wrapping one over the other to form a rope.
      • Tie the ends.

The first requirement in making Hemp rope is to have some Hemp available. Hemp is a plant that can build durable fibers. The twinning fiber for rope making is obtained when the plant begins to flower.

Depending on the rope you wish to make, some other materials may also be required.
Hemp rope is made by separating the fibers of the bast by cutting lengthwise, then by peeling fibers off, smooth the textures than by twisting the strands together.

Not only is Hemp rope environmentally friendly and natural, but it is also naturally molded and mildew resistant.

Hemp rope can be made stronger or less durable than ordinary rope.

As Hempmaster3000 stated above, “This process can be repeated as many times as you like, making thicker, stronger cables as you go.” The strength of your hemp rope depends on how many cables you choose to use. In other words, the amount of hemp fiber used to make the rope will determine how thick — and strong — the result is.

It’s easiest to begin with, hemp fibers or yarn.

Begin with either and cut it into lengths twice of the range of rope you intend to end with. Cut enough pieces until the bundle is about half of the diameter of your desired rope.

Fold the bundled fibers in half, and place a dowel rod through the loop, then jab the dowel into the ground. Smooth the fibers with your hand.

Divide the bundle in half, keeping one in each hand.

Twist each section clockwise until it begins to loop and kink. Make sure you’re pulling the cord as taut as possible while you do this.
Wrapping one over the other in a counterclockwise (opposite of what you just did) motion, twist the two sections together.

Secure the ends with overhand knots. Once you have tied the first end securely, you can slide the other end of the dowel and secure it.

To cable, the rope, create another section and then twist it with the previously created rope. You can repeat that process until your desired tensile strength and girth are achieved.

      I hope that made sense…

So if you’re trying to make a lot of hemp rope, you could invest in what’s called a “hemp rope maker.” Luckily, making your hemp rope is pretty straightforward.

You’ll need a tool called a wooden dowel and hemp fibers to assemble the rope yourself. Be sure to get your hemp fibers separated from the outer stalk. Roll those fibers in your lap until they’re tightly intertwined. Now with two people holding either end of this tough fiber, each twists the fiber in opposite directions. This should produce a sturdy and tightened final product.

This depends on where you start, if you are cutting stalk from the plant in the very beginning you will need to make sure to string it and roll it up first. When starting with hemp twine, it is similar to rolling any other cord into a rope. The first step is to, which is much more comfortable with another person or tie one end to a pole, tightly pull strings and begin to wrap them over one another as if braiding hair. Make sure to maintain a firm grip on them while twisting.
