As of 2020, farmers can now legally grow hemp in Louisiana; this is one of the last states to legalize it in this way formally; they took their time to formulate a proper plan to regulate matters pertaining to hemp cultivation and also the sale of hemp/CBD products.

Louisiana has canned the sale of all smokeable products contain hemp, and applications for those wishing to sell CBD products in the state were not released until the middle of June this year.

While it is legal since the 2018 farm bill passed, you still must obtain a permit or license to grow it.

If you want to apply for a license, their site lists a disclaimer that says you still can apply, but it would have to be sent via mail due to coronavirus issues.

No, Industrial hemp in Louisiana is currently not allowed to be grown. Although on 23 December 2019, the USDA approved the Louisiana Industrial hemp plan and national laws await final adoption, it is expected that the LDAF will be able to begin to issue licenses to support the season for 2020. This is, however, only expectation based on current conditions. Situations beyond the control of LDAF may occur, which may postpone the expected date.

Unfortunately Not. It is not permitted to grow Industrial Hemp in Louisiana for now. Against approval of Louisiana’s state layout over USDA (Dec. 23, 2019) and confirmation of state organizations (pending), only LDAF allowed licensed growers would be allowed to grow manufacturing hemp in Louisiana.

No, it is not legal for everyone in Louisiana to grow hemp. Growing industrial hemp in Louisiana became legal in June 2019 only for the agricultural centers at Louisiana State University and Southern University. They are the only authorized to plant and grow hemp, and only nine dispensaries can provide it to the patients.

Not quite. One still has to apply through the state and be approved to be granted a license to grow.

No, not just anyone can do so. Like many other states, you will need to obtain a license from the appropriate state department. Once obtained, just like any business endeavor, you will want to have a business plan in place and identify any hurdles that may need to be overcome in the process—enabling you to start off on the right path.

No. Not just anyone can grow hemp legally in Louisiana, yet at least. Louisiana has a state plan and state regulations to make it so that only approved and licensed growers are allowed to grow hemp in the state. Louisiana is not different than most other states.
