Growing hemp in Kansas has been legal since the U.S Farm bill was passed in 2018. From this point, both the growth and commercialization of industrial hemp as an agricultural product became a legal practice. As with almost every other state, you need first to get a licence, and this has a cost along with limitations attached to it.

Kansas received approval for their hemp program guidelines as of April 2020 but are still abiding by the Industrial Hemp Research Program until the Commercial Industrial Hemp Program is officially established.

It is indeed. The hemp itself is turning into a game-changer, in 2017 Kansas planed its legislative policy that came true by the agreement issued by the agricultural department state. Somehow people changed their work into a hemp farmer! But it won’t be easy since some government surroundings are attached to the progress of legitimizing.

The growing and commercialization of industrial hemp have been legalized in the 2018 US Farm Bill. Producers who were issued a license from the Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) are permitted to grow, handle, and process the hemp plant. According to the agricultural department’s Hoch, approximately 633 hectares have a license for hemp production. However, only 80 acres per license are allowed.

Yes, it is! Just like any business endeavor, make sure you have a business plan in place and have identified all the hurdles before starting. Especially, obtaining a license to do so, if necessary in said state.

It is! Federally, hemp was legalized in 2018. However, many states define the context for growing at the state-level, so always be sure to check with your state’s department of agriculture to learn the proper steps to grow.

After the 2018 federal US farm bill legalized growing and processing industrial hemp across the country, Kansas set up their own regulations. So far, over 1,500 acres are licensed in Kansas to grow industrial hemp. The state has over 47 million tillable farm acres available for crops, so there’s lots of room for more.
