Growing hemp in Utah is possible, and it has been since 2018, making it one of the most advanced states in terms of hemp farming. While many other states have now legalized hemp for industrial purposes, Utah also has medical marijuana growing program that it has been piloting since the start of March 2020.

Depending on the info from too many bases and widespread pace of legalizing cannabis in the world, it can be predicted that people in Utah could have their experience with growing and using hemp and side products. In 2018, lawmakers announced it legal and the year after they permitted the usage.

      Yes.

But because it’s so new, Utah, along with a lot of other states, are only just now starting to issue official guidance on registering for the hemp program and approving certain farmers.

Yep! Just like any other business endeavor, it is recommended to have a business plan in place, so you start off on the right foot with a good path. Especially, make sure to obtain the license for said production in your state so that no legal action can be taken against you.

It is! Even though the Hemp Farming Act (in 2018) made hemp an agricultural commodity, Utah only began to issue growing permits in 2019. The process required to obtain a permit does vary by state, so be sure to inquire with your local FSA or USDA office to find out what is needed.

Yes, indeed! It became legal nationally in 2018, but in fact, Utah only started giving out permits in 2019 for the commercial growth and processing of hemp. Already, of the over 15,000 farms in the state, only 125 have applied and received permission to grow hemp.

Yes, it has been legal to grow industrial hemp in the United States under a 2018 farm bill. Utah only began issuing permits for hemp’s commercial growth in 2019. So far, of over 15,000 farms in the state, just 125 have requested and received permission to plant hemp.
