In Washington state, hemp farming is now 100% legal. Before anyone starts to grow it, they’ll need to obtain a full license first. Washington DC first passed their farm bill in 2018, and this was given the necessary backing it required within the state to become a full-fledged agricultural activity will absolute legal status.

Yes, it is. You just have to apply to be a part of their hemp program.

It looks like you may have to email or contact someone by phone in order to inquire about the program.

2018 Farm Act states that growing industrial hemp in Washington State is legal. And state law says hemp producers must be issued a license to qualified applicants through WSDA Industrial Hemp Program. Before the 2018 Farm Bill, the crop was only allowed to be grown if the purpose is for research only. Now, even hemp-derived products are also permitted.

Yes! Just like any business endeavor, make sure you have a good business plan in place so that you can start off on the right path. Especially, making sure you have a license to do so, if necessary.

The 2018 Farm Act made the cultivation of hemp legal once again in Washington. That said, you will need to go through Washington’s Department of Ag to obtain proper licensure.

After Washington DC made hemp legal federally in the 2018 Farm Bill, each state had to come up with their own framework to monitor the farmers locally. Gov. Jay Inslee supported Washington state’s industrial hemp industry with a new hemp growing program that should be easier. Growing hemp was already legal because of a small, pilot project, but the Governor declared hemp “a legal, agricultural activity” in Washington state.
