Hemp fuel is an excellent alternative to traditional fossil fuels. We are all very aware of the impacts and damage were done to the environment by fossil fuels. Options such as Hemp fuel and other biofuels are gaining momentum because of the lesser implications they have on the environment. Biofuels, such as Hemp fuel has the advantage of being more sustainable because the materials used to make biofuels can be grown and harvested at a sustained rate.

We all know that biofuels are much more sustainable since we can grow and harvest the plants to make biofuel. Corn and sugarcane are excellent sources of biofuel. But, using these crops creates competition with the production of food. Alternatively, hemp plants are not valuable food sources. Hemp can quickly be grown in most climates, which means that countries can have the ability to produce their fuel.

This is pretty interesting, and I didn’t know hemp could be a fuel source. Is it used in any commercial applications currently, or is it not viable yet economically?

Alternative fuel sources are the key to our future. Hemp fuel produce less CO2 emissions than petroleum. Besides being environmentally friendly, it’s also cost effective!

There are two different kinds of hemp fuel: ethanol/Methanol and Biodiesel. There are various benefits to both.

Hemp biodiesel can run in any diesel engine without modifications.
It has virtually no environmental impact.

Hemp ethanol is one of the most cost-efficient fuels today.
It can be manufactured at a fraction of the cost as compared to oil, coal, or even nuclear energy.

There are theories that because these fuels re-absorb c02 and then emit the same amount once burned, that it would help to bring down the c02 levels and reverse the greenhouse gas effect. This is unlike petroleum, which only emits more c02 without re-absorbing it.

There are NUMEROUS benefits, and I only listed a few. It’s worth doing more research if you’re thinking about converting your engine to a biodiesel engine or one that can run on hemp-based ethanols.

There are many benefits to it, just like any other alternative fuel source. The most significant benefit from hemp fuel, compared to other biofuels, is that it does not compete in usages such as corn and sugarcane do since they are both used for many food sources. Another advantage is that hemp is a more resilient plant and can be grown easier, and more sustainably, to be used for a fuel source. Hemp also releases more oxygen into the atmosphere than most plants do as well as being more lubricating for your engine.

As with any biofuel, the most significant advantage is that it does not require the same environmental impact to acquire, refine, and produce. Unlike petroleum, the supply of hemp fuel is infinite, and the life cycle of hemp is a few months–meaning rapid production. The emissions it produces are cleaner, as well. And, when used for aircraft, hemp fuel allows for higher flying altitudes whereas petroleum-based fuels can congeal and negatively impact the engines.
