So gasoline is petroleum-based, which means that it’s not renewable–at least in our lifetimes. Hemp fuel is a biofuel, which not only has a smaller carbon-footprint (think less dangerous emissions), but the supply is virtually endless, as it is something that we could produce at our own discretion, rather than relying on a finite amount.
My grandfather and his brothers grew hemp for the government during WWII. Most people are aware of the uses of hemp rope in the war effort. However, the hemp grown on our farm at that time was actually made for biofuel–specifically for the B52 bombers. Petroleum-based fuels would congeal at high altitudes, and inevitably burn up the motors in the planes. The hemp fuel had a lower freezing point, and as such, was perfect for the aircraft and ensured they arrived intact.
