Though hemp and marijuana don’t have the same amount of THC, these plants are still cousins. Hence, it’s not surprising if they kind of have a similar strong odor since THC is not responsible for their smell. People living near Hemp Farms complain to locals about their problem of having to deal with the strong smell. “Stink like dead skunks!” as to how residents describe.

All crops have smells. Some say a pine forest, earthy scent, dirt, manure, Cannabis, and a skunk.

Everyone is different and will relate it to a different type of smell.

It depends on the hemp. But, usually they have an earthy or piney smell.

Skunky, for lack of a better description. Per my four-year-old nephew, it smells “weal weird!” Hahaha

As it is very closely related to marijuana, hemp tends to have a very similar, nearly identical aroma profile: the citrus-y, pine-y, and floral aromatics often characterized by cannabis. These vary by the type of flower that’s grown. Often these skunky characteristics are defined by the plant’s terpenes.

It has a very similar smell to cannabis, if you have ever smelled that. Some say it smells like a pine forest, others a very skunky earthy smell. It also depends on what maturity the plant is in, during full maturity it will smell very similar to cannabis.
