Hemp bedding is made like cotton bedding. You take the hemp fibers that are made from the hemp stalks – where cotton is made from the cotton flower. You spin those fibers into the string and weave into the bedding. Hemp bedding is better than cotton because it is more durable and more breathable. It needs to be taken care of the same as cotton because it will stain very easily and hold that stain. This is because of how absorbent hemp is. Which is great, but has the downside of it will hold everything it comes in contact with. If that happens, spot clean with mild soap and baking soda, wash in cold water and hang to dry.

The “hurd” of the cannabis plant is what is used to make hemp bedding. The hurd of the cannabis plant is the stalk that is then mulched down to make bedding for animals. The mulched down hurd is made into a straw-like texture, which is soft to the touch and 100% natural. This hemp bedding is exceptionally absorbent and is also a deterrent to rodents, and mold and mildew resistant.

The leftover stalks of hemp plants are made into animal bedding. They call it “hurd.” It’s mulched down until it is soft and absorbent and much like the texture of straw.

It’s made out of hemp hurd (stalk) that is mulched down until it has a consistency similar to straw. It is softer and more comfortable than pine or straw bedding, and its four times as absorbent!
