It can be used for a variety of things! Most commonly, the production of fuel since the biomass is, as Amanda stated, referred to as “leftovers,” making it challenging to pick through. Nonetheless, companies do pick through it and can produce a variety of things: extracting hemp oil for beauty products and CBD extraction for different products.

It refers to harvested parts of the plant; most typically it refers to fiber biomass, which is the stalks/hurd and leaves left over following floral harvest. It can also refer to the flower (CBD biomass), but it’s most commonly used to refer to the “leftovers”, or just the plant in its entirety.
